Join Eastern Mountain Sports this winter for some awesome snowshoeing just 90 miles north of New York City! We have access to some of the best snowshoeing trails in the area with spectacular views of steep cliffs, icy waterfalls and wide open lakes. The Shawangunk Ridge, also known as the "Gunks," is a massive ridge of bedrock that extends from the northernmost point of New Jersey to the Catskills Mountains. The area is known as a playground for outdoor enthusiasts young and old looking to escape from the city and reconnect with nature. On any given day you will find people hiking the many miles of well marked trails and rock climbing the endless routes the ridgeline has to offer. Come spend the day with us and let our friendly Eastern Mountain Sports guides show you a little of their backyard!
You will need to pack a lunch and snacks for the days hike. We recommend something that will fit easily into your pack without being smushed. Packing a sandwich or other food in tupperware works great. Trail mix (gorp) and enery bars are also a great snack and are easily accessible during short breaks. Gatoraide or other hydration mixes are helpful to keep you hydrated. You will need plenty of fluids to replenish those you lose while snowshoeing.
