Race Date: September 27, 2007

Venue: Lhasa City (3,650 m)

Event: 21.80 Kms marathon 

Maximum number of applicants: 500 

Closing date for applications is, July 31, 2007

This event is open to all athletes, regardless of caste, creed, country or religion. Friends and family of people taking part in the race can also apply, as non-runners. 

Qualifications to participate in the Marathon: Athletes must be physically fit and mentally sound. A medical certificate from your doctor is necessary, stating that you are healthy and free of injury. Health certificates should be faxed or mailed with your entry form. See sign up procedure. 

Qualifications for non-runners: You should be in good health and physical fitness. 

Flight Arrangements (VERY IMPORTANT) 

Before you do anything, make sure you can get a flight into Nepal for the trip dates. You will need to arrive Kathmandu on or before September 20, and depart for home on or after, October 3rd. If you need extra nights in Kathmandu because of flight schedules, we can arrange them for you. This cost would be extra and is $30 per night (double occupancy). You are free to make your own hotel arrangements for the extra nights you need if you wish. 

Arrivals and Departures: Everyone will be met at the airport in Kathmandu and taken to Hotel Shanker. Please fax your flight itinerary to our office in Kathmandu. Fax number +977-1-5526575. Make sure to print your name in bold letters on the flight itinerary. 

Nepal Visa: This can be purchased upon arrival to Kathmandu. The cost is $30 USD (exact change), one passport photo and visa application form, which will be given to you before landing. You may obtain it from Nepalese Embassy based in your country. As per present rule, if you are staying less than 3 days in your each visit, you can obtain free visa without any cost. Please make sure that you inform the immigration officer of this if you are staying less than 3 days in each visit. However if you plan to spend more than 3 days in each visit, it is advisable that you obtain Multiple Entry Visa. 

Tibet Visa: We will obtain Tibet Visa for you after your arrival in Kathmandu. You will need to fax us a copy of your passport detail together with booking form, so that we can do the needful paper work to get the visa approval from Tibet on time. Cost of Tibet Visa fee is already included in your package. 

FAQ

Race Headquarters: Everyone will be staying at Hotel Shanker and the lobby will be our race headquarters. Upon arrival all runners will be given important information on Tibet and the Marathon. 

Lodging While in Kathmandu & Tibet: Our host hotel will be the Hotel Shanker, located in Lazimpat, close to Thamel. All rooms are double occupancy unless other wise stated. There is an extra fee for single rooms. All meals are included while in Kathmandu. 

Similarly, in Tibet Hotels are based on sharing twin room unless booked for single room paying extra surcharge. All meals are included in Tibet as well. Normally we will take you out to different restaurant in town in Kathmandu as well in Tibet for lunch & dinner to give you change of varities. 

Storage of extra luggage: Hotel Shanker in Kathmandu will store your extra luggage for you in a safe claim check area. Your travel bag should be ready to go the night before your flight to Lhasa and your extra luggage should be checked in with the front desk. Similarly you can also store your valuables in safety vault. 

Similarly you can store your valuables in Safety Deposit Box in Lhasa. 

Travel Insurance: Please purchase travel insurance that covers the following things. 

a. Trip cancellation  

b. Trip interruption 

c. Travel delay

d. Rescue Evacuation 

Medical emergency /evacuation: If you have never purchase this type of insurance you can ask your health care provider, travel agent, homeowner's insurance agent or we can suggest Global Care. They can be found at www.globalcare-cocco.com. Also if you do a search on the internet, there are quite a few to choose from.
