This is where we showcase some of the exceptional staff who work for Eastern Mountain Sports. About Our Travel Director Becky Harrison is one of the most experienced American women guiding in the Himalayas today. Becky explores new territories, creates the bulk of our itineraries, personally hires most of our in-country staff, and leads many of the adventures herself (especially in Asia). In 2005, Becky organized and led the 50th Anniversary Women's Himalayan Expedition to the remote Jugal Himal on the Nepal/Tibet border, earning a Balance Bar Grant and international media exposure in the process. Becky spends roughly half of every year outside the US guiding and scouting new adventures, usually working from an apartment she rents in the capital of Nepal. She has an intimate knowledge of and high comfort level with getting things done in foreign lands. There's hardly a village anywhere near Mt. Everest where Becky isn't recognized and warmly welcomed as a local. And in Kathmandu, she's practically a fixture. A trained Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician, Becky has also done extensive high altitude medical research, and is often called upon to provide medical care for competing expeditions. Before embarking on her career as a globetrotting adventure guide, Becky worked as a cycling coach, a ski coach for paraplegic athletes, an outdoor clothing and pack stitcher, and was even a highly accomplished horse trainer and equestrian specializing in dressage. You can reach Becky via e-mail at becky@emstrek.com or by phone at 888-755-8735
